Perceptions...

Okay, so you think you know her well and understand the way her mind functions and her thoughts process. You think that you can predict her reactions and forecast her behavior. You think you are aware of her limitations, aspirations, strengths and potential. I ask you again, do you think you know her well enough? For once, leave aside your ego and give this question a fair chance. Is it you who knows her or your perceptions that always color your judgement about her?
In the short life that I have lived so far I have always seen people viewing others in the mirror that only shows the reflection of their own perceptions. You think that a particular thing is always done in a way because you have never seen it done otherwise. The belief that all creative people are eccentric and that every smiling face is happy are just perceptions not reality. Perceptions cripple reality, disfigure it and leave it helpless. They paralyze your rationale and limit your range of comprehension. Don’t you think that this is what makes you more gullible and a prey for all rumors, gossips and falsities in the world? Your misperception possesses the power to damage someone’s reputation beyond resuscitation!
People read books, study human insights and socialize with others not just to enhance their knowledge of the world but also to widen their horizon that minimizes their perceptions. But, it is also true that perceptions are immortal and cannot be eradicated. They are vile and pollute the purity of truth.

“Anybody who's ever gone through a hard time - any outsider's perception, no matter how much information they're given, they have no idea what the person's life is like.”
Amy Grant
